Opening of a parking lot

The Port Company of Bejaia is pleased to announce that a parking lot, at the outer block of the Gare Maritime, is available to the public.

This car park, which extends over 7 levels, is open 7 days a week throughout the year. It also has an automatic management system of inputs and outputs.

Vision, Missions and Values of Béjaia port


In the objective to develop the traffic passengers, a new infrastructure specially dedicated for the reception and the transit of passengers in the best conditions, was designed.

GM1 boudj

This new passenger terminal meets international standards for the reception and transit of passengers and vehicles and is part of the modernization of infrastructure to offer the best services to users.

Taking foot on both the seafront and the urban area, this new passenger terminal covers an area of 34.145 m² and is built on two sites:

- The landing block from the boat, located in the port of R + 3,

- The embarkation building, located outside the port, in R + 4.

Both blocks are connected by two fixed footbridges.


Idoor block: total Surface of 19.460 m ².

-Ground floor : Transit of vehicles at boarding on an area of 5,350 m2.

-Floor 1 : Transit of vehicles disembarkation, with access by ramps on a surface of 5 545 m2

-Floor 2 : Transit of passengers (pedestrians) including a check-in hall for boarding and disembarking passengers, halls for police and customs formalities, Departure lounge, as well as a passageway for the routing towards the footbridge of access to the ship, on a surface of 5 695 m2.

- A multi-level parking garage with 250 spaces ;

- Installation of two telescopic bridges connecting the car ferry to the second floor of the inner block ;

- Arrangement of a big modern departure lounge, equipped with all the conveniences ;

- Development of a recording room ;

- Installation of the equipment of search and control: scan in vehicles and seats, porticoes of detection, as well as luggage scanners ;

- Commissioning of sanitary standards, including for people with reduced mobility ;

- Commissioning of the controlled mechanical ventilation and air conditioning;

- Establishment of a remote display system;

- Development of reception area, information and orientation with installation of the sound system;

- Installation of lifts, mechanical escalators and hoists, which facilitates access for people with reduced mobility;

- Installation of the Internet network with broadband Wi-Fi coverage.


Passengers will carry out the formalities in pleasant conditions, with support for the needs related to their stay (banks, insurance, travel agencies, car rental, taxi station, hotel reservation, souvenir shops, local products and gifts ...).



- Opening of a parking lot with floor on 4 levelsof 250 seats, with an automatic access management system and outputs. This car park will be open 7/7 throughout the year, for both passengers and users of the city.

The port of Bejaia included a pattern of development in long term which will inevitably strength the trade port capacity and improve the logistics performance, especially as the new penetrating will directly connect the port to the east-west highway.

The major phases of the master plan include :

Phase 1 : Immediate program :

It mainly concern the construction of a new berth in the extension of the station24 (New quay) over length of 170m and depth of 12m. This construction will promote the capacity of acres of medians with 20.000m2 of storage areas

Phase 2 : Medium term program :

This program provides the extension of the port by creating additional surfaces and new quays, offering 6 new berths for container ships and other vessels with a draft of – 16 meters.

The main projects planned are :

  • Construction of berths over a length of 870ml at 15m of depth
  • Establishment of 62H of acres of medians
  • Protection medians of 11.773ml
  • Dredging the rear port to depth of 16m
  • Enlargement of the Abdelkader and Casbah passes (150m and 160m of depth)
  • The transfer of the marina

Phase 3 : long term program (2025) :

Bejaia’s port plans to build berths with a length of 214 and depth of 153. It is also projected to build 3 wharfs for receiving a large tanker and 26 acres of medians for the installation of specialized equipments. The vision of this project is also provided much interest for the harbor, as the port community and its hinterland. In addition to that, we will find a new realization that meets all the standards, technical, economic, and operational requirements.

The current petroleum port will be transformed to a tourism area for the benefit of the locals as well as visitors. The city will recover its port and a new marina will be created.

The successful development of the harbor’s master plan of the will allowed the reinventing of Bejaia’s port and the increasing of its efficiency in the transport logistics chain, it will thus help to increase the competitiveness of its customers by providing an efficient services covering their shipping needs, land transportation and logistics services.



The strategy adopted by Bejaia’s port consists on playing a key role in the economic development of the regions forming its hinterland. The development of logistics platforms responds to this ambition and fits perfectly with this strategy. That is the case of the projects of the creation of Tixter and Ighil Ouberouak logistics areas.

Logistics area of Tixter

Located in the wilaya of Bardj Bou Arradj in the halfway between the administrative center and the wilaya of Setif, the setting up of this Extra-Harbor Logistics Area is motivated at first by its desire to decongest the port and to let the transfer of goods to the operators more fluid, and also to create added value in logistics, by setting up additional services that could be made to the goods such as bundling/unbundling packaging and also by the fact that this region of (BBA and Setif) is a hub of the Highlands region. The presence of dynamic industrial zones in both wilayas and the development of the ZIDI (industrial area of integrated development), pilot project at BBA, also calls for the integrated economic development. The nearness of the site, to railway and the East-Ouest highway has also influenced in the choice of the setting up of this platform. The grounds, spanning a surface area of 8.2 at the Daira of Ain Taghrout, will be organized into three areas:

  • Zone A: Railway air terminal and zone of reception of containers (141 676 M²)
  • Zone B: Space dedicated to the logistic stocking (44 238 M²)
  • Zone C: Service area such as administration, truck parking and maintenance of handling equipments.

In view the economic potential of economic potential of the Highlands region, and in order to provide a logistic hub of support for the manufacturers and the economic operators, Bejais Port Company request the Wilaya of Bordj Bou Arreridj to study the possibility of an extension of the ground. This solicitation is made in the context of forward-looking approach to enhance the logistic potential of the ground and to provide the optimum operating conditions provide. Therefore, the overall capacity of the ground will pass from 20 to 50 Ha.

Logistics area of Ighil Ouberouak:

Located in proximately 05km in the south-east of the port with an area of 48 560 m². This logistics platform has a space capacity of 1040 EVP and a trade capacity of 19 000EVP. It consists on several parts and essentially by two sheds of 10 200 m² and 750 m². It has also ton entrances which one of them is connected to national road.

The works relating to this project is estimated to 510.115.000, they being implemented and consist of:

  • The rehabilitation of the main hangar and the materialization of access portals and the receiving ramps trailers.
  • The extension of the storage area on a surface of acres medians of 16 800m².
  • The development of the road networks.
  • The development of the second hangar as Warehouse Management and parking of vehicles.
  • The rehabilitation of the weighbridge.
  • The construction of an administrative building in modular structure.
  • The installation of area and quay of storage reception in hagars and acres of medians to ensure the control and the temporary mobilization or storing of goods.
